    This is to notify the general public that there is a confirmed outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) in Chandigarh, and suspected outbreak in other areas in Haryana State, India. As a precautionary measure to avoid incursion of the virus into the country, the Ministry would like to inform the public that import of live birds, all types of poultry meats, eggs and other risky poultry products originating from Chandigarh and Haryana, India are banned till further orders. The officials of Bhutan Agriculture and Food Regulatory Authority (BAFRA) as per its mandate will step up vigilance and monitoring activities at the border check posts and entry points.

    The general public is requested to extend full cooperation.

    Thimphu, 19 December: To help achieve the good quality and safe produce to enjoy a long and prosperous period serving the people, a three day Training Program on Hygiene and Safety in Food Business Operation was held at Taba, Thimphu from 19 till 21 December 2014.  The Training Program is being organised by the Bhutan Agriculture and Food Regulatory Authority (BAFRA), Ministry of Agriculture & Forests with technical and financial support from the FAO  as part of the ongoing FAO TCP project on “Strengthening Food Safety and Standards in Bhutan”.

As a precautionary measure to avoid incursion of the virus into the country, the Ministry would like to inform the public that import of live birds, all types of poultry meats, eggs and other risky poultry products originating from Kerela, India are banned till further orders. The officials of Bhutan Agriculture and Food Regulatory Authority as per its mandate will step up vigilance and monitoring activities at the border check posts and entry points.
