  • Media Release – World Water Day celebrated with announcement of Wild River BioBlitz

    Thursday 22 March 2018 is World Water Day with the theme “Nature for Water” and to celebrate, the National Biodiversity Centre is pleased to announce the Wild River BioBlitz.

    “We are encouraging everybody to take photographs of wildlife they see in and around our rivers and to upload these images to the Bhutan Biodiversity Portal. You might be surprised at what you find if you look – fish, birds, dragonflies, many species of plants and more,“ said Ms. Sangay Dema, Principal Biodiversity Officer at NBC.

    “We have a network of experts on hand to help identify observations made as part of the Wild River BioBlitz. A new spider was discovered by citizen science as part of a recent BioBlitz in Australia. We are excited by what members of the public might find.”

  • Animal Feed Formulation Training underway

    20th to 30th March, 2018, Thimphu: As an effort towards building capacity of livestock development workers, the Animal Nutrition Division and National Center and Development Center for Animal Nutrition of Department of livestock are conducting a training on animal feed formulation at Jamyang Resort, Thimphu. The training will cover different feed formulation techniques, including formulation of Total Mixed Ration (TMR). The field personnel shall learn how the locally available feed resources can be utilized to enhance animal production. About 30 participants, including the Livestock Production Officers and Feed and Fodder Officers from Dzongkhags and Regional Livestock Development Centers are attending the Training. The training is expected to contribute to attaining the goals of 12th FYP. The training is funded by Rapid Rural Community Project (RRCP) of World Bank.
