All government offices and schools in the Kingdom of Bhutan will be closed on 21st May 2016 to observe one of the most sacred days of Lord Buddha’s Parinirvana or Duechen Nga Zom.
Lord Buddha’s Parinirvana or Duechen Nga Zom is observed on the 15th Day of the Fourth Month of Bhutanese calendar which this year falls on 21st May. It was on this day that the Buddha was conceived, born, subdued evil, gained enlightenment and attained Nirvana. It is considered as one of the most auspicious days for Buddhists all over the world.
