March 23-April 3, Samdrup Jongkhar: Twenty-nine local Masons and 10 Supervisors from various geogs of six eastern Dzongkhags, farmers and Livestock Extension Agents completed the 12 days training on scientific techniques of constructing bio-digester. It was organised by the Bhutan Biogas Project at Pemathang geog under Samdrup Choeling Drungkhag.
The training provided a community-based technical hands-on training on bio-digester construction at hamlet level to encourage the usage of biogas and increase the number of biogas plant users in the eastern region. The training is expected to play an important role in benefiting and creating employment opportunities for youths in the region.
The training session covered three days of theoretical and eight days of practical classes during which participants were divided into eight groups to set up eight bio-digester plants in Pemathang.
Dasho Drangpon of Samdrup Choeling graced the training closing ceremony who awarded certificates to participants.
The Asian Development Bank funded Nu. 0.6 Million for training while the technical assistance and executive agency activities were propped by SNV Bhutan and Department of Renewable Energy (DRE) respectively.
