CNR, Lobesa: College of Natural Resources in Lobesa, on this week, in commemoration of 59th birth anniversary of His Majesty the fourth Druk Gyalpo, launched its journal called Bhutan Journal of Natural Resources and Development (BJNRD), to provide a forum for home academician and scholars to publish their works.

According to College’s Dean of Academic, Dr. D.B Gurung, the qualities of the entries are their big priority. “We ensure that only high quality articles are published.” This, he said is, done by having the paper peer reviewed and blind refereed by many scholars from within and outside the Country. For instance, each entry is heavily reviewed by academicians and scholars from United Kingdom, United Sates, Australia and few other Countries.

In addition, the journal is a platform for the College’s degree students to publish their works. As a partial fulfillment of the degree course, each student carryout research in their final semester. Many, the college acknowledge, comes out with very good and interesting findings. Although, such findings can be beneficial in critical decision making, the lack of platform to share them was the challenge.

Hence, Dr. D.B. Gurung said, with the journal launched in its print and online format, students have the opportunity to share their works and make it accessible to everyone. However, he clarified that the journal is not restricted to only students. “We highly appreciate the scholarly activities among academicians.” “Hence, the journal accommodates quality research articles that are of relevance to Bhutanese people and are of scientific interests in the field of agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry, environment, wildlife science, nature conservation, rural development, and social science.”

Contributors have array of article choices to contribute. They can contribute research articles, reviews, and short communication. However, the requirement is that the articles should not have been published or considered for publication in other journals. The manuscripts, before submission, if authored by multiple writers are also required to have prior consent from them.

The contributors are encouraged to submit articles in the field of environmental conservation, natural resources management and rural development covering the specific areas of agriculture, animal science, forestry, wildlife science and nature conservation. “The articles of interest to wide range of scholars and that which reflects pertinent issues will be given priority for acceptance.”

Other requirements of the manuscript are that it should have title page followed by Abstract, Key words, main body, acknowledgement and references. “The main body of the manuscript should include the Introduction (theoretical framework or appropriate context of the study, research question, purpose etc.), Materials and Method, Results and Discussion, and Conclusion,” states the online site of the journal.
