March 12-14, Thimphu: At the ongoing 14th Round Table Meeting (RTM) organised by the Royal Government of Bhutan, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests (MoAF) in collaboration with European Union (EU), New Delhi organised Bhutan-EU Cooperation side event at Royal Banquet Hall. The opening of side event was graced by His Excellency Achim Steiner, UNDP Administrator and UN Under-Secretary General and the Hon’ble Foreign Minister, Dr. Tandin Dorji.
The stall displayed glimpses of EU partnership with Royal Government of Bhutan in the Renewable Natural Resource Sector including the EU Technical Cooperation Project, Rural Development and Climate Change Response Programme, ICIMOD Himalica Project, EU – International Cooperative Alliance regional project and EU ITC Trade Project.
Besides, the stall also displayed other EU funded programmes including Local Governance and Fiscal Decentralisation, EU World Bank PFM Reform Project, CSO Support with Helvetas, EU World Bank Disaster Risk Management Regional Project and ECHO support disaster preparedness project with Save the Children.
The project publications, best practices, case studies, success stories, testimonials, video clips, posters and brochures attracted the attention of over 200 senior government officials and development partners who participated in the 14th RTM. On March 13, the Hon’ble Lyonchhoen, Dr. Lotay Tshering also visited the stall.
The EU delegation led by Ms. Paola Pampaloni, Deputy Managing Director, European External Action Service along with Ms. RaffaellaIodice, Head of Unit, Asia, Central Asia, Middle East /Gulf and Pacific, European Commission represented the EU at the 14th RTM.
