9-12 June 2014, Lamaigonpa, Bumthang: The National Centre of Animal Nutrition, Department of Livestock, Bumthang in collaboration with the Ugyen Wangchuk Institute for Conservation and Environment is the organiser of the 4 days training from 9/6/2014 to 12/6/2014 on “Basic Global Positioning System (GPS)”at Lamaigonpa, Bumthang. The training is being attended by 15 Livestock Extension Officers from Lunana, Lingzhi, Soe, Sephu, Bumdeling and Khoma Geogs.The training is funded by the Bhutan Trust Fund for Environment Conservation under the HANAs Project.

The main objective of the training is to impart hands-on training on GPS handling and usage, marking and storing rangeland location coordinates, tracking and saving the migratory routes of yaks in the highlands.

The skills and knowledge acquired during the training will be applied in gathering and storing data and information to document rangeland locations and area, forage availability, and the seasonal migratory routes of the yaks.
