15 June, Thimphu: With the objective of enhancing the knowledge and skills of the mid-level management staff of BAFRA on leadership and management, three days training workshop for the Officer Incharges of BAFRA on “Leadership: Understanding Self and Leading Others” was held from 9 to 11 June 2015 in Hotel Ariya, Olakha, Thimphu. The training workshop was attended by 31 officials of BAFRA field offices comprising of the Officer Incharges of 20 Dzongkhag BAFRA Offices, Incharges of five Plant and Animal Quarantine Stations and Drungkhag BAFRA Offices.
Since the Officer Incharges represent the bridge between the top management and rest of the staff in BAFRA, carrying out this important role of bridging, needs certain knowledge and skills in them as it involves carrying out roles of a leader, being able to vision out, plan, organise, coordinate, and implement. Therefore, this training workshop was specifically organised for them so that they are able to manage and discharge their responsibilities more effectively.
The training workshop comprehensively covered subject maters such as the traits of a good leader, application of effective management skills at workplace, attitude and aptitude of a good leader, effective decision making skills, keeping the team dynamics alive, reflect on self as a leader, food safety and biosecurity risk communication, risk based inspection, and food safety licensing procedures.
The Training Workshop was organised by The Bhutan Agriculture and Food Regulatory Authority (BAFRA) in collaboration with the Institute of Management Studies (IMS).
