Animal Nutrition Lab and Horse Ring inaugurated in Bumthang

26th October, Bumthang: Hon’ble Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture & Forest Dasho Rinzin Dorji formally inaugurated the newly constructed Animal Nutrition Lab for the National Research & Development Center for Animal Nutrition (NRDCAN) Bumthang  in presence of Venerable  Jakar Lam, Hon’ble Director General, Department of Livestock and other Regional and Dzongkhag officials.

Addressing at the gathering, Dasho informed that new lab will play the pivotal role in delivering effective laboratory services through analyzing and testing all types of livestock feeds in the country. Further, he stressed that with an establishment of many private feed millers to meet the feed demand of upcoming mega and commercial livestock farms, it will enable to monitor and maintain feed quality to enhance optimum production for the benefit and promotion of healthy livestock based industries.

The NRDCAN is an apex animal nutrition technical body under Department of Livestock and look after all feed & fodder development activities including carrying out research & feed analysis related to animal nutrition in the country. The new Animal Nutrition Lab was constructed at the cost of Nu 6 million and funded by Government of India. Dasho also inaugurated the recently completed horse ring at National Horse Farm, Nasphyll. The horse ring will be used to train horse for riding and tame for easy handling.  The GoI project has funded Nu 0.9 million to construct the horse ring.
