16 April, Thimphu: A book, titled ‘An Integrated assessment of the effects of Natural and Human disturbances on a Wetland’ was launched by the Hon’ble Secretary for the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Dasho Sherub Gyaltshen at the conference hall of the Tarayana Foundation.
According to the Executive Director of the Royal Society for Protection of Nature (RSPN), Mr. Lam Dorji, the book is a collaborative research between the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development and RSPN. It highlights the changes taking place around Phobjikha conservation areas along with its impacts on wetland bio-diversity, land uses and on the livelihoods of people residing there.
The book also contributes to conservation habitat of the globally endangered and migratory Black-necked crane. It is also expected to provide evidence-based information for developing effective action plan for the entire Phobjikha Landscape Conservation Area.
The book is available in an electronic form at www.icimod.org/himaldoc
