April 25-29, Paro: To create awareness on the self-employment opportunity in Agriculture sector as a long term vision and to supplement nutritious foods for the school children as an immediate objective, the Agriculture for Food Security (AgFS) curriculum has been introduced from classes IX to XII as an optional subject. It has been observed that AgFS is one of the most popular subjects and opted in class IX and X. Currently, there are 39 Secondary Schools implementing the AgFS subjects with about 2200 students.

A team of subject specialists from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Ministry of Education and Royal Education Council (REC) reviewed the AgFS contents at Drugyel during a weeklong workshop. It was organised by REC and Department of Agriculture with fund support from WFP. The consolidated curriculum will be handed over to the Ministry of Education for further directives.
