17 May 2017, Darla: A week long training on Non-Wood Forest Products management is being given to 25 farmers of the communities of Mondokha and Drukdingsa from Dungna Gewog, Chukha Dzongkhag in Darla.
The training being imparted by UWICE is being held at the NWFP and Agro-forestry Technology Sub-Centre, Darla. It has been organised with the objectives of informing of the importance of canes, bamboos and orchids to livelihood of people and to the ecosystems; and on the government policies on sustainable management and utilisation of these NWFPs.
The participants will be taught on various categories of canes and other NWFPs and their distribution patterns in the country along with sustainable management practices and cultivation techniques. The training will comprise of both class room lectures and field activities.
