28-30 January, Gelephu: The agriculture officials are attending the 3rd Agriculture Research Coordination Meeting in Gelephu. It will serve as a technical forum for planning, reviewing and endorsing annual research activities proposed by the Agriculture Research and Development Centres and Central Programs of the Department of Agriculture. It will also highlights the emerging issues in agriculture sector and identify the key research needs and priorities.
The Director, Department of Agriculture at the opening session stated that our research also needs to focus on various emerging issues such as human wild life conflicts, irrigations water management and shortage of farm labours to generate appropriate solutions. She emphasized on streamlining gender disparity, farm feminization, and nutrition and food security issues in the nationally coordinated research trials.
