8 May 2017, Thimphu: The Policy Workshop for Vegetable Go to School Project (VeGoTs) is going on from today for 2 days at Hotel Le Meredien in Thimphu. On the first day the Hon’ble Minister of Education, Lyonpo Norbu Wangchuk and the Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture and Forests, Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji also attended. Participants included teacher and student representatives; officials of MoE, MoH and MoAF; and the media. Presentations were made on the VeGoTs Project and Policy Brief; Impact Assessment of the Project; School Gardens for Nutrition and Health; and the Global Scenario of Integrated Approach.
The Commitment Letter was also read followed by the signing ceremony by the two Ministers who also released the Policy Brief and 3 technical booklets on the VeGoTs Project. This project by the World Vegetable Centre is being carried out in the countries of Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Indonesia, Nepal and the Philippines.
